2012 Class Schedule

March 3, 4, 5, 2012
(Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)
(9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.)

The Wedding Design class is intended to assist both current professional florists and event planners in upgrading their wedding/personal flower design skills.  The tentative agenda for the final day of class will be to put together several mock receptions with all the trimmings.  Some experience with wedding designs is suggested, but not required to register for this class.

The Wedding Design class covers topics such as:

  • Corsages and boutonnieres
  • Hairpieces
  • Bridal bouquets ( wired/tape and hand-tied bouquet holder methods)
  • Ceremony decorations
  • Reception decorations including how to decorate wedding cakes with fresh flowers
  • Pricing wedding flowers
  • Wedding consultations and wedding policy suggestions

Upon completion of this 24 hour class, students will receive a Texas A&M University Certificate of Completion from the Benz School of Floral Desgin.

Textbook - Flowers:  Creative Design, Johnson, McKinley, Benz (available for an extra fee of $70.00)

LOCATION and FEES
The classes will be held in the floral design studio at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. The tuition is $475.00 which includes all class materials, supplies, and a generous amount of printed hand-out materials.   A DEPOSIT OF $175.00 is required with your registration form and the balance of $300.00 is due the first day of class. Should you not be able to attend, your deposit will be refunded with 5 business days notice prior to the first day of class.

Students are encouraged to bring their own set of basic tools that would include a floral knife, stem cutters/snips, wire cutters and ribbon scissors.
