| Blue Douglas Fir, Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir, Inland Douglas Fir, Interior Douglas Fir, Colorado Douglas Fir, Pino Real Colorado Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca Pinaceae In Texas blue douglas fir grows only in high elevations in the Guadalupe and Chisos Mountains in west Texas. It would be useful only in similar environments in high elevation west Texas gardens. In regions elsewhere in the U.S. where it gets much more rainfall, it can reach 250 feet tall and rivals the giant sequoias and redwoods. It makes a handsome conical evergreen tree with aromatic needles of medium to dark green or blue-green.
