Split-leaf Brickellia, Cutleaf Brickell-bush
Brickellia laciniata

Asteraceae

Splitleaf brickellia is widespread in the Trans-Pecos, an upright, sometimes weedy-looking shrub found in disturbed habitats, along roadsides and gravelly arroyos. The bright green leaves are laciniate, having deep, irregular incisions along the margins, or edges. The small flowers are clustered into heads, and the bark is usually a pale gray or white. It grows from 3 to 5 feet tall, and could be used as a hedge in its native range.
