Purple Dalea
Dalea lasiathera

Fabaceae (Leguminosae)

A low, many-stemmed perennial with woody roots, purple dalea grows on limestone hills and flat open ground in the Trans-Pecos, Edwards Plateau and Rio Grande Plains. The low rosette is usually under one foot high, with relaxed stems that curl upwards at the tips. It blooms from April to June with thick, furry flower spikes circled with tiny purple flowers that have orange to yellow anthers.
